Single Crochet Introduction
The single crochet (sc) stitch is the easiest, simplest and most versatile stitch. Almost every crochet project will have a single crochet somewhere! Walk through how to make this stitch, learning how to yarn over (yo) and draw up a loop, too!

1. Insert your crochet hook into both loops of the designated chain or stitch.

2. Wrap the yarn over the hook clockwise. This is called a yarn over (yo) or yarn over hook (yoh). Twist the hook counter clockwise slightly to pull the yarn through the chain or stitch. Twisting the hook will prevent the hook from catching on the top two loops of the chain or stitch.
 3. Pull the yarn through the chain or stitch. Now there are two loops on the hook. The process of yarning over (yo) and pulling the yarn through the stitch is also called drawing up a loop.

6. Now you have a completed single crochet (sc) stitch! Continue practicing the stitch by working into the chains or stitches remaining in the row.
