Crochet Classes – Spring 2025
I’m excited to be teaching crochet classes and workshops this spring at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. There are crochet classes and workshops for adults, teens and kids, hopefully something for everyone!
All classes and workshops are in person at the Spruill Center at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338.

Learn To Crochet 101
Crochet 101 will focus on the basics of crochet like the single crochet stitch fabric pictured above.

Meets: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM , 6 sessions
Have you always wanted to crochet but don’t know where to start? Which yarn with what hook and how do you read a pattern?! We’ll walk through all the steps of a crochet project, focusing on how to jump in and get started! And while you’re learning you’ll make your first ever crochet lap blanket. This class is designed specifically for those with absolutely no experience with crochet or yarn crafts. And if you love this class, you can keep your mojo going with Learn To Crochet 102, during the second half of the term.

Learn To Crochet 102

For: Adults, Beginner Skill Level

Dates: Wednesday, May 14 – June 18, 2024
Meets: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM , 6 sessions
You learned the basics in 101, are you ready for more? We’ll dive into more advanced stitches, patterns and projects during this class, including working in the round with the famous granny square. And while you’re learning to create gorgeous crochet textures and motifs, you’ll be creating trendy throw pillows. This class is designed specifically for those with minimal experience with crochet or yarn crafts so won’t you join us? Students are expected to have successfully completed Learn To Crochet 101.

Crochet Basket Workshop
For: Adults, basic understanding of crochet

Dates: Saturday, April 19, 2025
Meets: Saturday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM , 1 session
Learn how to crochet a beautiful, sturdy basket! Using trendy t-shirt yarn, these baskets are quick to make and perfect for organizing any room in your house. All supplies and yarn provided for additional fee due to instructor at the beginning of class. A printed copy of the pattern will also be provided so you can continue to make more amazing baskets after completing this workshop.
It is best if you already have a basic knowledge of crochet including working in the round, single crochet stitch and how to count stitches. If you need to learn how to crochet from scratch or just need to brush up before the workshop, my Crochet 101 would be perfect for you! And you can take it concurrently with this workshop!

Granny Squares Galore
For: Adults, Any Skill Level

Dates: Thursdays, April 3 – May 8, 2025
Meets: Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM , 6 sessions
This isn’t your granny’s granny square class! There are hundreds of variations on the granny square, and we’ll explore at least a dozen of them. Learn how to change colors and join your squares into cool final pieces like blankets, bags, pillows or even clothes. Each week we’ll learn 2 new square patterns. Up your granny game and make more at home because practice makes perfect (and bigger final pieces). This class was designed for those with knowledge of the crochet basics.
If you need a class on the basics, check out Learn To Crochet 101. You can take this class concurrently with Granny Squares Galore.

Crochet Open Studio
For: Adults, Any Skill Level

Dates: Thursdays, April 3 – June 5, 2025
Meets: Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM , 10 sessions
All levels of crocheters are invited to our crochet open studio! Completely driven by student-selected projects, students are encouraged to push themselves to develop new crochet skills. And if you keep seeing that one project online that just looks too hard, bring it to class, we’ll help you get it going! This class is especially for you if you’re feeling stuck or need to challenge yourself. There will be a wide range of patterns available for those looking for their next project, too. This class was designed specifically for those with some crochet experience so won’t you join us? If you need to learn the basics, check out Learn To Crochet 101, classes can be taken concurrently!

Fun With Yarn: Kids Crochet Class
For: Kids, Ages 9-12

Meets: Wednesdays from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM
Join our Kids Crochet Class and embark on a creative journey! Designed for ages 9-12, this class introduces young crafters to the fundamental techniques of crochet, including chaining, single and double crochet and simple color changes. You’ll learn at your own pace, creating fun and easy projects such as scarves, pillows and bookmarks. As you build your skills, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore more advanced patterns with guidance. Each session is filled with hands-on practice, encouraging creativity and patience, while fostering a love for handmade crafts. All materials are provided and no prior experience is necessary.
Students may take the class multiple times, expanding their skills and continuing to crochet a variety of projects. The sky’s the limit!
