Turning Your Work

When you’re crocheting in rows, you frequently have to ‘turn’ your crochet work in order to keep going. It’s not as hard as it sounds and this short video will help you learn this crucial skill!

Turning Your Work In-Depth Photo Tutorial

Three images showing the steps involved in turning a crochet piece in progress.

A finished row will have the working loop at the far left. Rotate the piece like the hands of a clock. When you’ve finished a row, the piece will be at 3:00 and 9:00. Rotate (either clockwise or not, it doesn’t really matter) 180 degrees. Now the working loop is in your right hand. You do not need to remove your hook, I didn’t show the hook for demonstration purposes.
