Crimson & Plum Scarf
July 2018
I don’t know about you but my yarn stash is continually growing and taking up more and more space in my house. I never have enough of one color or type of yarn to complete a project but I knew there had to be a way to use it all up. I have donated yarn in the past but I have never thrown yarn away and I wasn’t about to start!
Then I happened upon Esther Sandrof’s Stashbuster Blarf pattern on Ravelry. I thought it was just brilliant! I picked out half a dozen yarns that went together (more or less) and started crocheting away.
Now I didn’t really follow her pattern stitch-for-stitch. I used it more as inspiration than anything. I changed the size a bit for more of a long, rectangular scarf. Then I varied up the stitches as I felt like it and alternated yarns every row. She offers a four-row repeat and I didn’t want anyone to see an obvious pattern, so I shuffled my rows quite a bit.
I don’t know if it really used up a lot of yarn but it was really fun to crochet. In fact, it was so much fun I ended up doing several more!

After multiple requests I’ve written a pattern for the scarf pictured. Better yet, it is free!
